Assam health department on Tuesday announced additional categories of air passengers, who have been exempted from institutional quarantine.
An order, issued by the health department said in continuation of the health department’s SOPs issued on May 24, May 28 and June 1, 2020, the following categories of persons, who travelled by air, are also exempted from institutional quarantine.
The categories include: 1) husband and wife, who travelled to Assam together; 2) husband, wife and their children, who travelled to Assam together, and 3) husband, wife and their parents, who travelled to Assam together.
The exemption from institutional quarantine is subject to following conditions.
A) Every person in a group, as mentioned in (1), (2) and (3), is asymptomatic;
B) Every person in a group shall undergo 14 days’ home quarantine, after compliance with health protocols such as collection of swab samples for COVID19 test, hand stamping, conversion of the residence into a containment zone, etc.
C) Mode of travel is by air.
“Above exemptions from institutional quarantine will not be applicable if the flight in which the person has travelled has been found to have a high incidence of COVID-19 positive cases or has been contaminated in some way,” the order issued by Samir K. Sinha, principal secretary to health, said.
