The Assam government has decided to implement bio-metric system of attendance for the employees of the Janata Bhawan in Assam.
The bio-metric system will be same as has been successfully implemented for the central secretariat and will be Aadhaar enabled, officials said.
“The system which is being mooted will record the attendance for all employees starting from officers to Grade IV employees,” officials said.
The AEBAS (Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System) will be finger print recognition device which will be used by every employee by punching the last 8 digits of his or her Aadhaar number.
Ground work for installations of the devices in all departments and with every senior officers in the rank of secretary and above has already been completed and WiFi connectivity for all devices have been established.
Officials said that process have also been initiated for procurement of finger print devices.
Once the system is installed, it is expected to help the higher authorities of each of the departments to monitor the attendance of government employees of all the departments, finally leading to better work culture.
