The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has arrested the husband of Tora Khasgir Borhani, a model and actress from Assam.

Tora’s husband, 50-year-old Reza Borhani was arrested along with drugs worth Rs 1 crore in Bandra, a coastal suburb located on Salsette Island in Maharashtra.

It is suspected that Borhani, an Australian national, has been involved in a drug racket in the city.

According to media reports, Reza was arrested by the Azad Maidan unit of the Anti-Narcotic Cell near a hotel in suburban Bandra on Friday night.

It has been reported that he was arrested after high-end synthetic party drug, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) worth over Rs 1 crore was found from his possession.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell seized at least 1,551 LSD tablets.

Borhani is the founder of Cannabis Health & Sciences Private Limited.

It is suspected that Borhani may be a part of an international drug cartel that smuggles LSD from Europe to India.

However, so far no role of actor and model Tora Khasgir Borhani, the wife of the accused, has cropped up in the case so far, a media report quoted a police official as saying.

Tora was born in Nagaon.

Known as a supermodel from Assam, Tora was emerged the first runner-up at Miss Guwahati beauty pageant in 1993.

A case has been registered against Dr Reza Borhani under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
