Assam, Mizoram CMs’ talks must not be mere photo op: Congress

The Assam Congress has stated that the proposed talks between the chief ministers of Assam and Mizoram must not become a mere photo op. 

Talks between Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram CM Zoramthanga, on the inter-state border dispute, is expected to take place soon.

Reacting to the development Assam Congress president – Bhupen Borah that he welcomes the move. 

Borah said: “Let’s not forget that we have had a long-shared history with the Mizos. So, I welcome if Assam and Mizoram CMs sit across the table to settle the border dispute amicably.”

“But it must not be reduced to a mere photo-op,” Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah said. 

On Sunday, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had informed that he and Mizoram CM Zoramthanga are likely to meet soon to discuss the border dispute between the two states. 

The Assam chief minister said that his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga has promised him to invite him to Aizawl soon after the latter is out of quarantine.
