Haflong: Twenty-three forest officials and three local guides from Assam who were reported missing after losing contact have safely reached Langting.
The team lost contact due to the absence of a mobile network near Khepre village in Dima Hasao along the Assam-Nagaland border while on a forest survey.
Speaking to this correspondent over the telephone, Donmai Thaosen, Range Officer of the Manderdisa Forest Range, who was also part of the team, said that they had reached Langting safely without any hindrance.
He further appealed to well-wishers not to worry and said that they were at Langting Model Hospital for a basic medical check-up after the long-distance walk.
Following the loss of contact on Friday afternoon, security forces, including the Assam Police, Assam Rifles and forest personnel, launched a search operation involving a drone camera on Saturday.
However, due to the dense forest, they could not be traced.
The lack of mobile connectivity continues to pose communication challenges for officials working in remote and inaccessible forest areas.
