Guwahati: Another alleged incident of police misconduct has been reported after a student was allegedly assaulted by police officials in Tinsukia, Assam on Wednesday night.
According to reports, Pradum Chhetri, an MBA student, was reportedly assaulted by officers from the Lekhapani police station while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The incident took place at night on June 26, involving Sub-Inspector (SI) Pranjal Phukan and three other policemen.

Reports stated that the sub-inspector was not in uniform (or on duty) during the incident.

SI Phukan forcibly removed Chhetri from a parked car along the highway and physically assaulted him, using abusive language throughout the altercation, reports stated.

However, it was not reported how exactly or why the police official resorted to the act.
In response, Chhetri’s family has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Lekhapani police station, demanding justice for the assault
While demanding justice for Chhetri, the family described the incident as an act of unjustified violence.
