The elephants demolished a house built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.

Pathsala: A herd of wild elephants venturing out of Manas National Park caused significant damage at Aujarguri village under Bijni police station in Assam’s Baksa district, on Saturday night.

The incident severely impacted the lives of two families.

The elephants demolished a house built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme, belonging to resident Bimal Musahari.

They also caused extensive damage to agricultural fields and crops.

Musahari lost nearly 500 kilograms of paddy, seven areca nut trees, and four bighas of jackfruit to the elephants’ rampage. In another part of the village, Shaon Brahma suffered the destruction of 30 betel nut trees.
