Biswajit Daimary, MP, and the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Deputy Chief, Kampa Borgoyary, and the Director and Registrar of the Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar, met the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister, Prakash Javadekar, in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss with him the issue of upgrading CIT to a deemed university.

After extensive discussion with the minister, it was decided that M Tech course will be introduced from the present academic session (2018-19).  Javadekar has instructed the Director and Registrar of CIT to advertise for admission in few trades in the current year.

Stated Daimary after his meeting with the Union HRD Minister, “The meeting was successful. One more clause of the Bodo Accord has been implemented. We have invited Prakash Javadekar to come to Kokrajhar and inaugurate the first M Tech class. I also take the opportunity to congratulate Hagrama Mohilary.”

Borgoyary hoped that CIT would help shape the future of the Bodo youths and help them climb high up the career ladder. The said institute was set up at Kokrajhar in Assam in 2006 as per the commitment given by the Government of India in the Bodo Accord (under Clause No 11) signed in 2003. According to Clause No 11.1 and 11.2 in the Bodo Accord, the Central Government is committed to run it as a Centrally funded institute and to upgrade it to University.
