Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita has been honoured with the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal for his outstanding service to the country.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday presented the award to RP Kalita during the Gallantry Awards ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Kalita is the first Assamese to receive the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, one of India’s military decorations for Wartime Distinguished Service.
Lt Gen Kalita, who hails from lower Assam’s Rangiya was earlier honoured with Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal twice for his outstanding service.
He was named GOC of the III Corps, which is based in Rangapahar, near Dimapur.
