GUWAHATI: The Kamrup-Metro district administration in Assam has announced dry days in the district, including Guwahati city, from May 05 and 07 ahead and during Lok Sabha elections.

The dry period in Guwahati city of Assam, wherein sale and consumption of alcohol will be banned, will begin at 5pm on May 05 and conclude at 5pm of May 07.

It may be mentioned here that the Guwahati constituency in Assam will go to polls for Lok Sabha elections in the third phase on May 07.

The dry days has been announced by the Kamrup-Metro district administration in Assam with the aim of maintaining public order and ensuring a smooth electoral process.

“…the undersigned hereby declares ‘DRY DAY’ in Kamrup Metropolitan District w.e.f. 5.00 P.M. of 05/05/2024 to 5:00 P.M. 07/05/2024 including the day of counting of votes which is fixed on 04/06/2024,” an official order stated.
