The forest department on Sunday caged a leopard at Bokpara tea estate in Dibrugarh district.
“For the last several days, the leopard was creating trouble in the tea estate by taking away the livestock. We are happy to see that the leopard was caged successfully in the morning today,” said a resident of Bokpara tea estate.

An official of Dibrugarh forest department said, “We placed cages in three places of the tea estate after the locals complained to us about the venturing of the leopard in the tea garden. The leopard was creating terror among the residents and today, the leopard was successfully caged.”
The man-animal conflict has been rising due to the shrinking of forest cover.
Due to encroachment of their habitat, the animals come to human habitats in search of food.

Recently, a full-grown male leopard was caged in the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) production unit at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh.
The CISF personnel sighted the leopard in BCPL during patrolling.
The forest department placed three cages and the animal was successfully caged on February 17, 2021.
