Guwahati: The Assam Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session commenced today in Guwahati with several crucial addresses in line.

Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is scheduled to present the state budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on February 12.

She has promised a “realistic” budget that addresses the state’s economic needs and aspirations.

In anticipation of the budget session, stringent security measures have been implemented within the assembly premises to ensure a smooth and secure legislative process.

Apart from the budget, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the introduction of the Assam Polygamy Ban Bill.

Additionally, the Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024, is expected to be tabled, seeking to boost the state’s tourism sector.

Assam Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024 will also be introduced. 

This bill aims to curb the rampant problem of cheating and unfair practices in public examinations.
