A unit of Red Horns Division conducted a lecture on World Suicide Prevention Day in Assam’s Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

The lecture was held the Boshgaon High School, Saraibil in Kokrajhar.

The lecture was targeted specifically to make everyone aware about staying happy, satisfied and psychologically sound in life.

It also highlighted some preventive measures to be taken to avoid any suicidal cases.

The event started with the lecture followed by an interactive session with the medical officer and culminated with a group photograph.

The students were informed about World Happiness Report and our country lags behind in the same.

Experts said happiness index is inversely proportional to the rate of suicides and it needs to be curbed.

Various warning signs like addiction to alcohol, anxiety and restlessness and also preventive measures like education, counseling and togetherness were discussed to make a positive difference.

Around 400 students, 25 teachers and about 20 guardians attended the lecture.

The motivation of the locals and students was evident both in terms of strength and interest.

By organizing such events, the Army is aiming to shape the minds of young buds and reduce the stigma about mental health.
