The gas pipeline had suffered leakage following collapse of a concrete wall.

A Baghjan-like incident was averted in Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district on Thursday night after the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) promptly sealed a gas pipeline that had suffered a leakage.

Sources said the incident occurred at Latumgaon in Hahchora at 2 am on Thursday night.

The gas pipeline had suffered leakage following collapse of a concrete wall, said an official.

The official said the leakage in the pipeline was plugged within an hour.

“There was no major damage and no one was injured or evacuated,” the official added.

According to local reports, there was a loud explosion due to the leakage, which triggered panic among the villagers.
