Guwahati: A team of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, arrested a Lat Mandal for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 40,000 in Tinsukia.
According to sources, the accused was identified as Jukheswar Moran, a Lat Mandal at the Doomdooma Revenue Circle in Tinsukia.

He demanded the bribe for land mutation-related works.

The source said that Moran was caught red-handed accepting a partial payment of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.

The complainant had approached the police as he was unwilling to pay the bribe.

Based on the complaint, a trap was set by a team of officials at the Circle Officer’s office, leading to Moran’s arrest and the seizure of the tainted money.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Further investigation regarding the incident is being carried out.
