In recognition to their hard work and to boost their moral to uplift their competitive spirit, the district administration, Kokrajhar of Assam in association with inspector of schools on Monday presented laptops to the students who fared well in the last HSLC and AHM examinations conducted by SEBA under Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, the minister for Social Welfare, Soil Conservation etc, Pramila Rani Brahma said the programme serves as an inspirational platform for those who aspire to achieve success in future.

She congratulated the students for bringing honour to Kokrajhar district especially teachers and parents for their contribution towards the success of their children.

“Of course, results of any examinations of the students of our district are still not satisfactory in comparison to other districts of Assam. This may due to various reasons like lack of interest of our children in education, proper guidance of parents, and the situation of course as the bandh culture is still going on our district”, she expressed.

Biren Chandra Phukan, principal secretary, Bodoland Territorial Council, who chaired the programme also urged upon the students community to work hard for bringing more lourels not only to this area but to the State as a whole. He wished them the best with a hope to do more good results in any examinations in their student life.

Inspector of schools, Kokrajhar, Jagdish Brahma while explaining the purpose of the programme outlined the life story of Anundoram Borooah as to arouse inspiration amongst the students.

On the occasion, the minister ceremonially handed over computer laptops and certificates to five star mark holder students in presence of additional deputy commissioner Prafulla Chandra Barman, district elementary education officer S N Goyary, Uma Rani Brahma, secretary, BPF, women wing.

In the district, a total of 229 meritorious students were feted under this award scheme.
