The Lakhimpur police on Tuesday warned the social media users of spreading fake news and hatred in the time of COVID-19 emergency.

WARNING! Put your ugly thoughts behind or be behind the bars by sharing it on social media. Lakhimpur Police has already registered a case and arrested one person in this regard. Any incendiary or fake or malicious post will invite trouble”, tweeted Lakhimpur police.

This warning comes when the entire State is battling hard to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic which has also hit Lakhimpur district with one positive case.

Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur district administration distributed essential food items as a part of its relief material distribution operation in the residential area in Abdul Latif Baruah bye-lane of KB Road of North Lakhimpur town which was declared a containment area for COVID-19 positive case.

The district food and civil services department on Monday evening distributed 40 kgs of rice, 5 kgs of lentil, two litres of edible oil and two packets of salt per household in the declared containment area located in the Ward No 11 of the town.

It is known that there are 650 households in the containment area in Abdul Latif Baruah bye-lane of KB Road of North Lakhimpur town.

On Tuesday, the district administration also distributed the relief materials among the residents of the containment area who were left out on Monday.

The district administration is also conducting sanitization works in that containment area as well as in other places of North Lakhimpur with disinfectants sprays.

It may be mentioned that the Abdul Latif Baruah bye-lane of KB Road of North Lakhimpur town was declared a containment zone on Saturday following the detection of a COVID-19 case in that area.

The sealing of that area left its residents without any external access to food and other essential supplies.

This prompted the authorities to distribute relief materials in the evening.
