Laban Sports Club Shillong has moved into the final of the 23rd edition of Bodoland Gold Cup Football Tournament jointly organised by the All Bodo Students’ Union ABSU Dimakuchi Ancholik and Dimakuchi Sports Association at Dimakuchi along the Indo-Bhutan border in Udalguri district.
In the keenly contested second semi-final played at the Dimakuchi Stadium on Friday, Laban Sports Club edged past Jampui Jala Sports Centre, Tripura, 6-5 via tie-breaker. In regulation time, the match ended in 2-2 draw. Sagar Debberma and Abhoy Meitei struck a goal each to give the Tripura team 2-0 lead. However, Ejjingmut Lyngdoh equalised for Shillong drawing double blood in the 43rd and 86th minutes, respectively.

Earlier, in the first semi-final, Manipur Yarkhok United Club defeated RBI Sports Club Mumbai 3-1. In the final to be played on October 7 next, Shillong Club will take on Manipur Club. According to Lohit Chandra Boro of the tournament organising committee, the Deputy Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Kampa Borgoyary, is going to grace the final match as the chief guest.
