The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lalpool of Assam’s Udalguri district hosted an awareness programme on scientific application of fertilizer in Daifang village on Tuesday.
It was attended by more than 200 farmers.
In the event Dr Debasish Borah, senior scientist and head KVK, Udalguri emphasized on judicious use of chemical fertilizers and use alternate resources like bio-fertilizers, and organic manures like vermicompost wherever possible.
He also urged to join hands together to work for bringing an organic revolution, greener environment and safe foods for all.
“We must work seriously to avoid use of single use plastic and plant more trees,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, P P Dutta, area manager, Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) detailed the farmers about Direct Benefiy Transfer for fertilizers subsidy payment to the farmers.
The programme was also attended by district agriculture officer and district veterinary officer, Udalguri who spoke about use of soil health cards, schemes available to the farmers.
In the programme seedlings of fruits were also distributed among farmers of Daifang area of Udalguri with assurance of proper security and care in their homestead gardens.
Scientists from the KVK detailed the farmers about balanced use of fertilizer, alternate organic sources of nutrients and discussed problems faced by the farmers.
