The organizing committee of Ambubachi Mela has declared the Kamakhya temple premises to be a no-tobacco zone for the duration of the Ambubachi mela.

Speaking at a press meet recently, the Ambubachi Mela Organizing Committee informed that penalty will be imposed on those violating the rule.

The penalty amount has not been decided yet. A letter has been sent to the District Administration requesting support to enforce the rule.

On 22nd June at 4:30 PM the doors of the Kamakhya Temple will be closed. The temple doors will then be opened in the morning of 26th June at 7:15:58 seconds.
