Assam: Joseph Marak, critically injured in Rajkanya drunk and hit case, dies at GMCH

One of the persons, who was critically injured in the infamous October 2 Rajkanya Baruah drunk and hit case, has succumbed to his injuries. 

The deceased person – Joseph Marak had lost both his legs and was in a critical condition after being hit by the car Rajkanya Baruah was driving. 

Joseph Marak breathed his last at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), where he was undergoing treatment, on Wednesday morning.

On the intervening night of October 2 and October 3, Rajkanya Baruah, a former Miss India finalist knocked down as many as nine labourers of the PWD (Public Works Department) with her car at the GS Road in Guwahati, Assam.

Rajkanya Baruah was allegedly driving her car in a highly intoxicated condition.

Rajkanya Baruah was returning home after attending a birthday event at Taj Vivanta in Guwahati, when she rammed her car into labourers near Down Town area. 

Although, she was at first granted bail by the Court, later she was re-arrested by the Dispur Police and is in judicial custody since October 8. 

With the death of one person, murder charges are likely to pressed against the model.
