The district magistrate of eastern Assam’s Jorhat district Roshni A Korati by an order stated that the tea industry in Jorhat including plantations will open from Saturday.
The order stated that in pursuance of clause 500 of the order of government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs vide number 403/2020-DM -1(A) dated 03/04/2020 and as per the decision taken in the meeting held with the stakeholders on Friday chaired by the district magistrate, the tea industry was being opened from Saturday.
As per the order the tea estates, factories, small tea growers of Jorhat district will operate from Saturday and continue with activities like skiffing, plucking, manufacturing, etc according to the status of the standing tea bushesof the particular garden.

All tea garden will operate with maximum of 50 per cent of workers and employees on roster basis.
Movement of tea workers will be restricted within the garden of the premises of the garden and no outsider will allowed to enter the garden premises except for emergency services.
The management has been asked to provide all liquid handwash and other sanitation material alongwith clean water.
The workers should be compelled to maintain the social distance of one metre and wearing of masks of workers and employees is mandatory also gloves should be used by workers and employees.
If any bought leaf factory is employing labour from outside then the authorities will have to make arrangements of food and lodging within the factory premises, maintaining all guidelines to prevent spread of COVID-19.
Permission has to be obtained from district administration for vehicle movement outside tea garden.
Vehicles carrying purchased tea leaves should be sanitized before entering the factory.
