A Covid-19 positive patient at Mariani in upper Assam’s Jorhat district has died of the infection at JMCH.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati on Thursday evening said 54-year-old Covid-19 positive Alok Ghosh succumbed to the disease at JMCH.

This is the 6th death of a patient infected by Covid 19 in Jorhat district.

Korati stated that Gosh died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. She further informed that 62 new positive cases were found on Thursday in the district thereby increasing the total number of positive cases of Jorhat district to 1169.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that out of the 62 people found positive 58 persons were without travel history.

Among the 62 positive people 45 were from Jorhat town out which 44 did not have travel history.

She said that the number of active cases in Jorhat district stood at 718 on Thursday.
