The Jorhat Inspector of Schools, Dr Subhalaksmi Rajkumari, has lodged an FIR against a junior office assistant of a school in the district for allegedly forging her signature.

The junior office assistant, identified as Utpal Mudoi, is working at Gitarthi High School in Jorhat.

Dr Rajkumari alleged that Mudoi had forged her signature in a few documents submitted to the office of the director of pensions in Guwahati.

Dr Rajkumari alleged that several documents that were submitted for commuting the pension of 12 retired employees of different schools of the district had her forged signatures done by Mudoi.

The matter came to light after a letter from the office of the director of pensions, Guwahati, was recently received by her office.

The letter said there were some defects in the list of 12 retired employees of various schools that had been sent to the office of the director of pensions for commutation of pension.

The letter asked for correction of the defects and re-send the list to the office of the director of pensions.

Dr Rajkumari said while looking into the matter it was found that her signatures in the letter recommending pension commutation for 12 retired employees were fake and were forged by someone.

The Inspector of Schools stated that a departmental inquiry by her office found Mudoi committing the act of forging her signatures and he confessed to having done so.

In view of the mala fide act committed by Mudoi, the police should investigate the matter and initiate necessary action as per provisions of the law, Dr Rajkumari said.
