Bordoloi who hails from Jorhat and presently resides at Guwahati has been intimated about the award through a letter issued by JPS  Dabas,  principal scientist and head of Centre for Agricultural Technology Assessment and transfer.

Bordoloi inspired a whole school, Chitralekha Siksha Bikash Mandir and 50 self help groups in the adjoining villages near Soongi at Titabar subdivision in Jorhat to recycle and reuse waste and to produce vermicompost.

The vermicompost produced in the schools were sold to nearby tea gardens and the school authority opened bank accounts in the name of those children who were involved in the project.

The proceeds of the vermicompost were divided among the children and deposited into their accounts to inspire.

He also experimented here with soilless agriculture and successfully grew lettuce and cabbages on water mixed with a few other components.

For Bordoloi, an agriculture graduate, the indigenous people should conserve the local food wisdom to create an indigenous economy.

His latest venture Spread NE Farm Learning Centre, located at Sonapur, 25 kms away from Guwahati proposes to recapture the biophilia connection of human to nature in the Northeast India by re-establishing our relationship with nature by creating an edible food forest.
