Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expressed pain that a young and energetic journalist Digjyoti Lahkar is presently struggling with life at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati.

Lahkar, who has worked for both in the print and the broadcast media for many years now, is suffering chronic liver ailments.

Managing director of Nemcare Hospital Hitesh Barua informed that Lahkar is suffering from hepatic parankimal disease.

Understanding the treatment would be an expensive affair, JFA has urged the State government to support the ailing journalist to meet his urgent medical cares.

At the same time, the association has also appealed the media persons to come forward and contribute to his treatment.

“We hope Digjyoti will overcome all medical challenges and join the journalistic duty very soon,” stated a JFA release.

“Moreover, we also expect that the media persons would carry out necessary healthcare awareness as a precautionary measure for their own benefits,” the statement added.
