Sonai Rupai wildlife range office
Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah inaugurates the new Kalamati Wildlife Range Office at Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary in Sonitpur.

Guwahati: Assam Environment and Forest Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah inaugurated the newly constructed Kalamati Wildlife Range Office at Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary in Sonitpur on August 7.

The new range office is expected to improve field-level forest administration and strengthen wildlife protection and management efforts within the sanctuary.

Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary is an important biodiversity-rich area in Assam and provides habitat to several species, including the state bird, the white-winged wood duck.

The inauguration is expected to strengthen the infrastructure available to forest personnel working on wildlife conservation, protection and management in the region.
