Guwahati: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), is hosting the first-ever “Future Skills Summit” in Assam’s Guwahati today (February 15).
Union Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, will inaugurate the summit alongside young Indians, thought leaders, industry experts, policymakers, educators and technology enthusiasts, among others.

Together, they will deliberate on strategies for catalysing future-ready talents for India and the world as a whole. Discussions will revolve around the impact of rapid digitisation across the globe, highlighting the emergence of new opportunities for young Indians in next-gen cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), semiconductors, robotics, cyber security, among others, which opens tremendous opportunities for young Indians.
Recognising that skills are the passport to prosperity, the summit is poised to formulate a roadmap in sync with the goals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is to transform India into a global talent hub and capitalise on the opportunities thrown up by the emerging technologies.
A pivotal objective of the summit is also to forge numerous partnerships with industry and academic institutes nationwide, ensuring that curricula align closely with the industry demands and standards.

In line with this objective, the summit will witness over 20 strategic collaborations between NIELIT, the Indian Institute of Management-Raipur (IIM-Raipur), the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Gwalior (IIITM-Gwalior), and other multinational Information Technology (IT) companies.
More than 1,000 prominent attendees and over 30 innovative exhibitions will be part of the summit. The event will feature four-panel discussions on the themes- of the semicon India for Future Skills, India AI for Future Skills, cyber security and emerging technologies for future skills, and Digital for future skills- India’s talent for a global workforce.
