Guwahati: Under the holding of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections across the country by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Investigation Directorate of the Income Tax department of the Northeast region has deployed monitoring teams in the form of round-the-clock control room cum complaint monitoring cell in Assam’s state capital Guwahati.
Moreover, a Rapid Action Team (RAT), monitoring teams in each district of Assam, and Air Intelligence Units (AIUs) in all the airports of the state have been deployed to curb the use of black money in the election process.

The monitoring teams are constituted to ensure free, fair and transparent elections to capture the movement of unaccounted cash and its role in the election process as per the guidelines and mandates issued by the ECI.
In this regard, the IT department has said that any complaint or information about cash or other items suspected to be used for bribing of voters may be given to the control room through a toll-free number or WhatsApp.
The IT department also said that any information or knowledge about the storage, possession or movement of large amounts of cash or valuables may be passed on to the control room cum complaint monitoring cell constituted for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
