Inter-district public transport in Assam is likely to resume from September 1.
If reports are to be believed, inter-district public transport services are likely to resume in Assam after nearly five months.
However, an official confirmation of the same is yet to be received.
In the previous SOP released by the Assam government on August 17, no relaxations were announced in regards to inter-district public transport services.
Drivers of long-distance bus services in Assam had expressed anger and disappointment after no relaxations were announced in regards to inter-district public transportation in the SOP.
The drivers of long-distance buses in Assam accused the state government of turning a blind eye towards their plight.
“It seems that the state government doesn’t care about our lives or the lives of our family members who are starving,” the drivers had said.
The Assam government recently announced a package of Rs 10000 for bus drivers and their helpers who suffered financially during COVID-19 due to inter district travel restrictions.
