India’s third Mini Food Park will soon be set up in Depota near Tezpur in Sonitpur district of Assam.
The food park will be established under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sampada programme, which was launched with an aim to double the farmers’ income by 2022.
The construction work of the food park is going on in full swing and the work is being carried out by Surendra Agro-Processing Structure.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli visited the construction site on Friday and took a stock of the ongoing construction work.
Later, while interacting with the media, Teli said that the food park is being constructed in an area of 30 bighas of land.
He further informed that farmers could directly sell their products in the food park.
“Because of this food-park farmers’ income will be double and 200 to 300 local people will get employment,” Teli added.
