Guwahati: In continuation with its celebratory events for the 78th Independence Day, the Indian Army flagged off a Motorcycle Rally from Assam’s Digboi to Arunachal Pradesh’s Walong War Memorial on Saturday (August 10).
The rally team, consisting of 10 brave riders of the Indian Army, will cover a distance of over 350 kilometers in the hilly terrain and maneuver through treacherous roads of Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit Valley.

The rally will carry the celebratory spirit to the extreme hamlets of the Northeastern region. Passing through Tezu and Hayuliang, the riders will pay homage at the Walong War Memorial on Monday (August 12) before returning to Digboi by August 15, and 2024.
The Walong War Memorial is dedicated to the memory of the ‘Fallen Soldiers’ of the Indian Army who laid down their lives during the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
During the flag-off ceremony, the team interacted with the Army veterans of Digboi. The attendees wished the riding team good luck in the endeavour.

The team during its journey will carry out numerous activities and engage with the local community and children of Upper Assam to promulgate the spirit of Independence Day.
The activities en route will also include interaction with locals at Parshuram Kund, lectures on the recruitment opportunities and screening of motivational movies for school children at Hayuliang School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tezu.
