Assam Finance & PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday evening held a review meeting with Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan and Tinsukia MLA Sanjay Kishan at the Circuit House here.

Sarma also took stock of the condition of the National Highway 37 and other roads of Dibrugarh before the meeting.

Minister Sarma later twitted, “I strongly believe condition of roads displays the readiness of a society. As part of my effort to personally look into what ails our road, today I inspected AT road Dibrugarh and instructed officials to fill the gaps, and potholes, immediately with MLA Prasanta Phukan.”

Sarma during the meeting with the Dibrugarh MLA and the Tinsukia MLA had discussions about the pathetic road conditions of the National Highway 37 and instructed the officials concerned to immediately repair the roads.

“In the discussion meeting, Himanta Biswa Sarma told that under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna scheme the state PWD department will construct 4200 km roads soon and he instructed the PWD officials to fill up the gap and potholes as soon as possible,” said a press statement.

Sarma informed that under Bir Lachit Chilarai bridge construction scheme, a total of 1120 wooden bridges would be constructed in two years period across the State. Sarma also took stock of the main roads of Dibrugarh town.

Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli, PWD Minister Tapan Gogoi, Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, MLA Prasanta Phukan among others were present in the meeting.
