Bokajan: In an operation targeting a suspected large-scale drug deal, a joint team of CRPF and Assam Police seized a cache of weapons during a vehicle stop on the newly constructed 4-lane NH near in Karbi Anglong district along the Assam-Nagaland border on Thursday.

“Acting on intelligence regarding a potential narcotics deal, our team intercepted a Bolero vehicle. While no drugs were found, a significant cache of weapons was recovered during a search of the vehicle,” SDPO Rustam Raj Brahma.

The seized weapons include a 9mm Beretta pistol, three magazines, and a total of 43 live ammunition rounds.

The five occupants of the vehicle, identified as Thonga Wangsa, Aloto Chishi, Hekiho Zhimoni, Khukivi Aye, and Sattar Ali, hail from various locations across Nagaland and Assam, were promptly apprehended. Legal proceedings against them are underway.

This operation highlights the vigilance of law enforcement agencies in tackling drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region, ensuring the safety and security of communities. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
