Ahead of BTC polls, police recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in Assam’s Udalguri district on Monday night.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Udlaguri police led by the DSP (HQ) launched an operation at Bandarguri village and recovered the arms from a banana orchard.

Police said one AK-47 rifle, one rocket launcher, five rockets, 40 detonators, 112 gelatine sticks and a huge cache of ammunition were recovered during the operation.

The seized items indicate that they were kept hiding there only a few days ago, said a police official.

The official said police are investigating into the case and no arrest has been made so far.

The recovery of arms ahead of the polls has raised question about the free and fail polls in the BTAD.
