With Lok Sabha elections ticking away, flying squads recovered an amount of Rs 2, 50,000 in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
Reports stated that the amount was seized by the flying squad at Karigaon under Kokrajhar Police Station.
The huge amount of cash was seized from one Daniel Basumatary of Dangshibari Village in Assam’s Chirang district
The cash was being carried in an Alto K10 bearing the registration number AS 26A/6014.
The Income Tax authorities are also keeping a “hawk eye” on the flow of cash in Assam and the other northeastern states in view of the impending general elections.
Tax department authorities stated that a huge amount of cash was being stashed away in the banks of Northeast.
