Assam’s eminent litterateur, intellectual and journalist Homen Borgohain has tested positive for COVID19 on Saturday.

Borgohain, who is 88 years old, has been diagnosed with mild symptoms, said media reports.

The litterateur has reportedly been admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

As per a media report, Borgohain, who is the editor-in-chief of Assamese daily, Niyomiya Barta and GNRC Swasthya, an Assamese health magazine, took both the first and second doses of Covid19 vaccine.

On Friday, Assam registered 12 more Covid19 deaths and 2,384 new positive cases.

The news of the Covid19 deaths and cases was confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday evening on his Twitter handle.

The Assam health minister informed that out of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district reported 883 cases.

The overall positivity percentage of Assam on Friday was 3.29%, minister Sarma said.

The new cases were confirmed out of 72,405 tests, he informed.
