The Hojai Unit of Asom Sahitya Sabha on Sunday afternoon organized a felicitation programme of meritorious students at the Sahityarthi Bezbaruah Bhawan in New Market of Hojai in Assam.
Speaking on the occasion Hojai deputy commissioner Tanmoy Pratim Borgohain, who was the chief guest of the function said that students should focus on acquiring knowledge as much as possible rather than focusing only on scoring marks for the purpose of examination.

He said along with studies, students should try to explore themselves in different fields like sports, cultural activities and social work to enhance their personality, and that in this competitive era one should also try to keep themselves up to date with current affairs.
The deputy commissioner further asserted, “Time is very precious, each and every student should learn how to use time productively and try to utilize each minute of their life by learning new significant skills and become a responsible citizen of the nation.”
The meeting was presided by Binod Bihari Singh, president of Hojai Unit of Asom Sahitya Sabha. Dr Shardanand Dev Goswami, noted litterateur and president of Hojai district Asom Sahitya Sabha; Tapan Kar, principal, Sankardev Junior College; Khalilur Rahman, general secretary, Markazul Mariif; Jiten Deka, block officer, Jugijaan; Gopi Kanta Das, senior teacher, Don Bosco High School; Hare Govind Kalita, secretary, Hojai unit of Asom Sahitya Sabha and many more eminent dignitaries graced the occasion as guests and shared the dais.

Notably, Hojai unit of Asom Sahitya Sabha has been organizing this felicitation programme since last 14 years where meritorious students of Hojai who has secured distinction and star-marks in High School Leaving Examination are felicitated every year.
This year altogether 157 students of different schools of Hojai are been felicitated including Sagnik Bainik of Don Bosco High School who secured tenth position and brought laurels for Hojai district. Students were honoured with a sapling of neem tree, phulam gamocha and a certificate.
The whole event was anchored by Anup Kumar Borthakur, general secretary of Hojai district Asom Sahitya Sabha.
