Assam: Hojai to observe death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika

Brisk preparations are on to observe the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika in Assam’s Hojai.

Ankur Sangha along with Hojai District Asam Sahitya Sabha, Hojai unit Asam Sahitya Sabha and Samnavaya Ekamancha have jointly lined up various programmes to be organized at Bishnupally in Hojai.

A bust of the music maestro will be unveiled and foundation stone of a library will be laid by Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, former vice chancellor, Gauhati University.

A newly constructed cemented gate of Ankur Sangha will be inaugurated by noted belletrist Upendra Barkatki.

Foundation stone of Dr Bhupen Hazarika open stage will be laid on the same day by noted poet Dr Nanda Singh Barkola.

The open meeting will be inaugurated by Dr Amlendu Chakraborty, vice chancellor, Rabindranath Tagore University.

Various other programmes like Bhupendra Sangeet, Bhupendra Sangeet dance competition will be organized.

Taking Dr Samshul Haque as president and Jayanto Bhagwati as general secretary a recepition committee has been formed.

Various other sub-commiitees are formed for organizing the programme smoothly.
