Assam minister for hill areas development, mines & minerals Sum Ronghang unfurled the tricolour on the occasion of 74th Independence Day in Hojai.

Deputy commissioner Dr Sadnek Singh, superintendent of police Ankur Jain, Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev among others were present on the occasion at Kachari Maiden at District Headquater Sankardevnagar in Hojai on Saturday.

The minister also took salute of the march pass by security forces.

However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this year the event was organised in low key manner.

Addressing on the occasion, minister Ronghang spoke in detail around 35 minutes about the welfare activities and developmental works carried by BJP government both at Central and State under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The minister also saluted the Covid Warriors who are working relentlessly round the clock to contain the spread of coronavirus.

On the other hand at schools, colleges, hospitals, SOS Children’s Village, Life Insurance Coroporation of India,Hojai Press Club, Hojai Municipal Board, Railway Station, etc, the national flag was hosited with pomp and gaiety.

Many people also hoisted the national tricolour at their respective residences with much enthustiasm.

Notably, at all the venues social distancing and hygiene norms were strictly followed.
