When in 2017 opposition All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) legislator Aminul Islam streamed live his speech on Facebook from inside the Assembly legislative assembly, he was suspended from the house for three days.
However, Assam Assembly speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami has so far not initiated any action against finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also committed similar ‘mistake’ in the Assembly on Monday.
Minister Sarma during the Special session of the Assembly on Monday streamed his speech using Facebook Live.
Dhing MLA Islam had streamed live his speech on the contentious illegal Bangladeshi migrant issue on Facebook in 2017, minister Sarma did the same on Monday when he spoke on Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
“The Ethics Committee recommended suspension of the member for a specific period during the current session. I have accepted its recommendation. Aminul Islam is suspended… I request Islam to leave the House immediately,” speaker Goswami had said.
This time Goswami said he received a complaint in connection with minster Sarma’s conduct and will initiate a probe.
While Islam had submitted a written apology for his conduct, minister Sarma has not done so up till now.
Islam has reportedly filed a complaint against Sarma to the speaker Goswami.
