Former chief justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi showered praises on Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during an event in New Delhi. 

Ranjan Gogoi said that Indian politics need people like Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“Politics need people like him (Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma),” said former CJI Ranjan Gogoi. 

Ranjan Gogoi was speaking at an event of the India Today group. 

Gogoi further said that Himanta Biswa Sarma is also an exceptional lawyer and is well versed in Income Tax law.

“Had he (Himanta Biswa Sarma) continued in the legal profession, he would have been a great lawyer,” Ranjan Gogoi said.

Meanwhile, reacting to the praises showered by the former CJI, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “The comment made by Chief Justice Sri Ranjan Gogoi (Retd) took me back to my days in Gauhati High Court (1994-2001) where I had the privileged of learning law under luminaries like him. His comment is a huge blessing and I will try my best to keep up to his expectations.”
