Guwahati: At least six people were nabbed by the police in Cachar, Assam with a substantial amount of suspected heroin.

According to reports, the accused were arrested in two separate operations.

The police said that based on inputs, the police launched operations near Ram Prasadpur, Dholai, and Banskandi areas.

During the operations, the police captured six persons suspected of being behind the illegal drug trade in the region.

Further investigating them, the police found around 1.9 kilograms of suspected heroin.

The suspected heroin was concealed in 150 soap cases.

Police further informed that the accused were identified as Bintu Singha (28), Rajen Singha (41), Ekbar Hussain (23), Borjohna Hmar (27), Robert Lalmalsawn (24), and Daniel Lalringhet (26).

The accused were residents of various locations including Cachar in Assam, Manipur and Mizoram.

Along with the drugs, the police also seized a scooter and an SUV from the accused.

The estimated value of the seized item is said to be around Rs 9.5 crore in the grey market.
