Assam: Heroin worth Rs 85 lakh recovered, four arrested

The police in Assam’s Nagaon district have recovered heroin worth Rs 85 lakhs from Chaparmukh Railway Station in Raha area. 

Four drug peddlers, including a woman, were arrested by the police.

The drug peddlers had brought the heroin consignment from Dimapur in Nagaland on board the Ledo Express, Nagaon police informed. 

The arrested persons have been identified as Sitara Begum, Ainul Haque, Rasidul Haque and Wadikul Islam. 

The heroin consignment weighed around 120 grams.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a team of Nagaon police launched a search operation at the Chaparmukh Railway Station in the wee hours of Wednesday recovered the contraband. 

The heroin consignment was packed in ten soap cases which were concealed underneath the clothes of Sitara Begum. 

Meanwhile, the police have initiated further investigation into the case to unearth the entire drugs network.
