Pathsala: Heavy trucks entering Pathsala town during restricted hours have emerged as a concern for residents and commuters, with the movement of commercial vehicles adding to congestion on the town’s busy roads.
Under the existing traffic restrictions, heavy vehicles are not permitted to enter the town between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Residents and commuters, however, allege that several trucks continue to enter Pathsala during the restricted hours.
The movement of heavy vehicles become particularly disruptive during peak hours, when students, shoppers and other commuters crowd the main roads. Residents say the trucks slow traffic on already congested stretches and contribute to long queues.
Traffic congestion has been reported at several busy locations in the town, causing delays and making movement difficult for pedestrians, two-wheelers and other smaller vehicles.
Residents have urged the traffic police and district administration to enforce the existing restrictions more strictly and take action against vehicles violating the designated timings.
They have also sought regular traffic monitoring during peak hours and tighter regulation of commercial vehicles to prevent recurring congestion.
With traffic volume increasing in Pathsala, residents said effective enforcement of the existing restrictions is necessary to improve traffic flow and road safety.
