Guwahati: Guwahati hosted its first kids’ obstacle race, Junior Circuit, at Arya College Playground on Sunday, with participation from children and parents.
The event was organised by Culture Club Preschool and supported by House of Play. It was open to children aged between 3 and 15 years and followed a non-competitive format, focusing on participation, physical activity, and bonding between parents and children instead of rankings or timings.
The inaugural edition saw over 500 participants, including around 250 children and nearly 300 parents, showing strong interest in such outdoor activities in the city.
The obstacle course, which was nearly 1 kilometre long, included 15 specially designed challenges such as crawling tunnels, balance beams, and cargo nets.
One of the key features of the event was the active involvement of parents, making it a shared experience rather than just a race.
Speaking about the event, Culture Club Preschool founder Nikhil Mozika said the response reflects a growing need for meaningful outdoor engagement. He added that the initiative aims to build confidence, resilience, and joy among children through real-life challenges.
Organisers also highlighted the need to reduce sedentary lifestyles among children by encouraging structured outdoor play. All participants who completed the course were recognised, promoting the spirit of participation and effort.
Following its successful debut, the organisers plan to expand Junior Circuit in the coming editions, aiming to promote a family-oriented outdoor culture in Guwahati.
