Guwahati: The Guwahati police in Assam will put on display a large number of stolen mobile phone handsets and laptops, recovered during different operations but remain unclaimed, for the public in Guwahati on Friday, June 14.
The Guwahati police in recent times have recovered a large number of mobile phone handsets and laptops that had been either stolen from houses or snatched by miscreants, Guwahati Commissioner of Police (CP), Diganta Barah, said in a statement on Thursday.

While some of these recovered items have been returned to the owners, around 650 such phones and 16 laptops are still lying unclaimed with the police as the owners could not be found, it said.
All the unclaimed items will be displayed for the public from 11 am onwards in the CP’s office campus at Hem Baruah Road, Pan Bazaar, opposite Cotton University. Persons having lost similar items recently could visit the CP’s office to claim their gadgets by identifying and producing ownership proof, it added.
Majority of these items have been recovered under the jurisdiction of the city’s Paltan Bazar police station, 12 under Panbazar police station, Latasil PS (6), Noonmati PS (6) Chandmari PS (5), Pragjyotishpur PS (4) and Geetanagar PS (3).
