Assam: Grenade blast at Tingrai Bazaar in Tinsukia district, death toll rises to 2

A grenade blast has been reported from Tingrai Bazar at Digboi in Tinsukia district of Assam.

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants lobbed the grenade in front of a hardware shop owned by a person named Turan Agarwala.

Two persons have died in the incident.

One of the victim has been identified as Surajit Talukdar.

Surajit Talukdar succumbed to his injuries at the AMCH.

The other deceased person has been identified as Sanjiv Singh (25).

On the other hand, 2 more persons have sustained injuries and are stated to be in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the ULFA-I has denied any involvement in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Army and Police have cordon off the area and have began an investigation in the case.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed concern over the grenade blast at Tingrai Market in Digboi and asked DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to deal with the incident sternly and nab the miscreants at the earliest.
