Assam Government on Thursday announced three new schemes for three different set of people.

Addressing media at Janata Bhavan, finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced about three schemes.

These include one-time special education aid for the pupils of the 700-odd employees of the two paper mills in the state.

The two schemes encompass the NHM employees and the divyangs.

The State Government will provide Rs one lakh for pupils of the employees of the paper mills who want to persue, medical, P HD or engineering.

To pursue post graduate and under-graduate courses, the government will provide Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.

In the higher secondary level, the amount is Rs 25,000 and from primary to class X, the amount of aid has been fixed at Rs 10,000.

To avail this opportunity, students should apply from January 14 till 20, 2020.

The deputy commissioners of Morigaon and Hailakandi will do the scrutiny and select the beneficiaries between January 20 and 30 next.

This scheme does not cover those students who parents have already retired.

The aid will be distributed next month.

The NHM employees will get medical aid up to Rs five lakhs with effective from January 1, 2020.

The finance minister said similar schemes will be announced for the teachers of the State soon.

On the other hand, if divyang employees desire to buy vehicles, the government will bear 4 per cent of the interest.
