The Assam government on Thursday advanced the summer vacation in all schools in the State in view of the COVID-19 situation.
The vacation which was scheduled from July 1 to July 31 has now been rescheduled from May 15 to June 14.
There are a total of 31,829 active cases in the state and so far 1531 Covid-19 patients have succumbed to the disease in the state.
The Assam government on Wednesday imposed stricter restrictions in urban and adjoining areas, including a daily curfew from 2 pm to 5 am and closure of all educational institutions and government and private offices, for 15 days beginning Thursday.
The government has also ordered the closure of all shops and commercial establishments shut at 1 pm and weekly bazaars will not be allowed for 15 days.
